We Need to Talk About How Beautiful the Universe Is
When you look up at the sky and wonder at the beauty of it all, it’s tempting to think, “Well maybe that’s just me. Maybe it’s just my subjective experience that the world seems so beautiful.”
But what’s mind-blowing is how important aesthetic concepts like symmetry, simplicity, and repetition are for the development of mathematics and physics.
General relativity, quantum physics, cosmology, string theory, etc . . . all rest on concepts, symmetries, and patterns that are often breathtakingly beautiful.
Even at its most basic level of physical laws, existence really is a thing of beauty.
We should take more time to enjoy it.
